  8. NoIR maybe gone, but NUGI lives on with a host of important,
  9. informative, and entertaining activities at this year's NEXTSTEP
  10. Expo. It will be a fun week, we look forward to seeing you at Expo!
  11. Here is an overview of all we have planned.

  14. USER GROUP SUMMIT
  15. Moscone Convention Center
  16. Monday, June 20  11:00 am - 1:00 pm
  17. This last year has witnessed enormous change in the direction,
  18. membership, and focus of NEXTSTEP user groups. Many group members and
  19. leaders have questions and suggestions regarding the support and
  20. purpose of NEXTSTEP user groups. We have organized a summit for user
  21. group members to meet and discuss the implications and expectations
  22. of this past year -- what's worked, what hasn't -- with any eye
  23. toward building a solid foundation for user groups in the year to
  24. come.

  26. Please pre-register for the Monday summit!  Send email to
  27. "nugi@next.com" before Saturday June 18 with your name, address,
  28. phone number, email and user group affiliation.  This way you can
  29. actually get into Moscone - a general admission badge will be
  30. waiting for pickup.

  33. USER GROUP LUNCH
  34. Chevys (4th and Mission) near Moscone
  35. Monday, June 20  1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
  36. Immediately following the User Group Summit, the User Group Lunch
  37. will be held at a nearby restaurant as an informal welcome meeting
  38. for user group members and NUGI volunteers. Welcome to San Francisco
  39. and NEXTSTEP Expo!

  42. lunch.  We need to know how many people are coming so we can reserve
  43. enough space. This social gathering will cost you the price of lunch - but is a 
  44. great way to gather and gossip.

  51. Sponsored by BANG, this party may be the most talked about
  52. user group event of the year. This is the place to meet for fun and
  53. excitement _before_ the show begins! There will be food, drinks for
  54. $1, a band and a DJ for dancing. Don't miss this one! See you there!

  57. USER GROUP SESSIONS

  59. Starting a Corporate Group
  60. Moscone Convention Center
  61. Tuesday, June 21  11:45 am - 1:00 pm
  62. NEXTSTEP users are increasingly found in large corporations; therefore, much of 
  63. the future growth of NEXTSTEP user groups will occur within a corporate
  64.   framework.  In this session you will hear the experiences of both corporate 
  65. and geographically-based user group presidents, the common problems to watch out
  66.   for, what works, what doesn't, and the  benefits to be gained by partnering 
  67. together to keep each group strong and focused.

  69. Providing Services to User Groups

  71. Wednesday, June 22  1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
  72. This session will focus on the user-group support provided by NeXT,
  73. both in starting new groups and in keeping existing groups informed and active 
  74. in the NeXT community. In addition, there will be success stories, tips, and
  75.   ideas from some of the larger user groups.  The session will finish with a 
  76. discussion of future programs from NeXT and a question-and-answer session. If 
  77. you
  78.   are a user group leader, or would like to be one, plan to attend this session.

  80. A Fireside Chat with Steve Jobs

  82. Thursday, June 23  10:15 pm - 11:15 pm
  83. Steve's visit to the user group assembly at NEXTSTEP EXPO is an exciting annual 
  84. tradition. As is previous years, there will be plenty to talk about. Find out
  85.   where NeXT is going, whom they are going with, and how you can come along for 
  86. the ride.

  89. AUCTION

  91. Wednesday, June 22,  6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
  92. The User Group Program's most important event! It's all here and it's
  93. all up for bid! One-of-a-kind items plus a wide range of products and
  94. services from the NeXT community will go to the highest bidder.
  95. Always great fun! An Expo tradition! Proceeds go toward the User
  96. Group Program at Expo. Please be sure to attend this event!

  99. NUGI ON THE SHOWFLOOR

  103. Thursday, June 23  10:00 am - 4:00 pm
  104. NEXTSTEP User Groups International is sponsoring a booth at the show
  105. on behalf of NEXTSTEP user groups worldwide. We'll have information
  106. about the Auction, Expo, San Francisco, and various NEXTSTEP user
  107. groups. This will also be the place to find the NUGI Expo 94
  108. commemorative t-shirt and other special surprises. There will be an
  109. interactive kiosk, containing images of past EXPO user group activities, 
  110. parties, views of world-wide cities and a link to the Stepwise NEXTSTEP/OpenStep
  111.   Information Service. And, as a special
  112. treat, we'll be running a picture booth where you can take home an
  113. electronic picture of yourself, your friends, or whomever. In
  114. addition, regional NEXTSTEP user groups will be sponsoring a variety
  115. of activities in the NUGI booth. NeXus will be showing
  116. NEXTSTEP/Japanese. Since this is not an generally available product -
  117. see the demo! BANG will be sponsoring demonstrations from select
  118. third party vendors. If you can't find it anywhere on the show floor,
  119. check here: chances are, we'll have a line on it! Saving the best for
  120. last, NUGI is also sponsoring a lounge area on the showfloor,
  121. adjacent to the user group booth. If you need a place to meet, relax,
  122. or just regroup, you'll find it here courtesy of NEXTSTEP User Groups
